Valli di Comacchio

  • Trail Conditions: On foot, By bike
  • Interest: Wildlife

    Follow the black-winged stilt
Departing from Comacchio and going toward Ostellato, follow the Province Road for a while, then turn right on the bridge that leads to the reclaimed areas; follow the directions to Anita (Valle Zavelea is worth a stop) and reach the charming Agosta embankment, which borders the Comacchio valleys. Shortly before Anita turn left to the Valleys' southern portion (Valli di Ostellato). Follow the province road to Ostellato, which runs along the navigable canal, to reach the valleys of the same name, an especially charming nature spot that can be visited in several ways.

    Reflections in the valley
Anita is the point of departure of the trail in the Valleys' southern portion. You can go on foot or by bike along the Reno riverbank, towards the mouth, and spot many birds: flamingos, herons, pied avocets, slender-billed and Mediterranean gulls. The landscape is very evocative and highly interesting in terms of natural features.

In the kingdom of the eels
You can enter the kingdom on foot, by bike, or onboard a boat. Nature, environment and history are entwined with the tradition of fishing, as you can observe by visiting the "Casoni di Valle" (fishing lodges) of Serilla, Coccalino, Pegoraro, which have been restored to their original shape. The information point at Stazione Foce, at the beginning of the trail, is also the point of departure for boat trips.
