Pizzo Carbonara is the second highest peak in Sicily 1979 after Etna. The trail is very challenging and should only be done in conditions of excellent visibility. Along the way, we encounter high-mountain pastures of basilisk and sinkholes surrounded by beech trees and rare endemisms such as the Nebrodi violet, the piccinina violet, the mountain flax, the Nebrodi alyssum and the Sicilian spurge. Starting from the hut at Piano Battaglia, the starting point of the trail, we come across an outcrop of Lapis Specularis gypsum with large transparent crystals, continuing to the panoramic viewpoint, where we also come across the ruins of a haystack. Going along up to the junction Carbonara, we meet the maple tree then the dead valley, princess plan and arrival at Pizzo Carbonara. Then we continue until we meet a sinkhole down to the junction and then to Pizzo Scalonazzo 1904 asl. Then, we arrive at Piano Battaglia.
