| Holiday House "Madre Serafina" | Bagno di Romagna |
| The elegant block of flats lies in piazza Ricasoli, in the heart of Bagno di Romagna, at a stone's throw from Basilica di S. Maria Assunta and from the spa baths. A recent and complete restoration activity has transformed the 19th century Pio Istituto Biozzi into a comfortable holiday house, provided with 25 beds, 12 rooms (with two or three beds each) with adjacent bathrooms, lift, meeting and reading hall, chapel, and a large parking area. It is managed by a community of the Clarisse Franciscan Missionaries of the Holy Sacrament nuns: the house can be used by religious groups, Catholic associations, and, on request, by private persons. It only offers overnight stay and breakfast. For further information Pio Istituto Biozzi was built according to the will of the notary Ser Filippo Biozzi who on 22nd August 1872 left a legacy for the building of a nursery school in Bagno di Romagna, to be entrusted to nuns. The Clarisse Franciscan Nuns of the Holy Sacrament of the Chapter of Forlì accepted to open and manage the nursery school which in 1891 was entrusted to mother Serafina Farolfi, suor Maria Albè, suor Angela, and suor Veronica. One of the nuns will always be "primary schoolteacher" to guarantee, together with the subscriptions by the inhabitants, the presence of a working school for girls and of a nursery school, which was active until recent times. The new holiday house has been named after Madre Serafina, that is mother Serafina Farolfi who during her stay in Bagno di Romagna wrote (1898) the Rules with which she founded the order of Clarisse Franciscan Missionaries of the Holy Sacrament nuns, with seat in Bertinoro (FC). |
