Tracce del Novecento
Italian Painting in the Museum Network of the Cesena and Forlì Area
Bagno di Romagna (FC) - Palazzo del Capitano
14th July - 26th August 2007
On Saturday 14th July 2007, at 5.30 p.m. in Palazzo del Capitano in Bagno di Romagna, the exhibit Tracce del Novecento - Pittura italiana nella rete museale cesenate e forlivese will be inaugurated. The exhibit is organized by the Culture Councillor's Department of Provincia di Forlì-Cesena, with the collaboration of Istituto per i Beni Artistici Culturali e Naturali della Regione Emilia-Romagna.
The exhibit consists of a wide range of works by famous Italian artists, coming from museums and public collections of the Cesena and Forlì territory, and documents the remarkable growth in the artistic heritage acquired between the early 1950s and the end of 1970s through the "painting prizes", but also thanks to private collections, with considerable donations and legacies.
These contests, organized since the post-war period by public authorities and cultural associations, contributed not only to boost the creativity of the young artists from Romagna, but also to relate the various local realities to the more general artistic aspect, as demonstrated by the works on display belonging to young artists who became the leading representatives of the artistic world of the second half of the 20th century. Among these contests, Premio Campigna of Santa Sofia (represented by Vacchi, Fieschi, Korompay, Muccini and by the painters Piraccini, Sughi, and Cappelli from Romagna); Silvestro Lega of Modigliana (with the "prize-winning" works Pozzati, Nanni, Alviani, Mesciulam and Ruffini from Ravenna); Premio Cesenatico (with paintings by Licata, Bendini, Mandelli, Ruggeri, Saroni); at a regional level, Biennali dArte Romagnola (with the wonderful still lives by Panighi, Folli, Verlicchi, Neri preserved in the deposits of the Forlì Picture Gallery).
The private collections annexed to the local museums around the half of the last century - among which we mention Verzocchi and Righini collections from Forlì - are represented in the exhibit by some of the most interesting works belonging to Morello Morellini Collection from Cesena (Guttuso, Omiccioli, Purificato, Turcato, Cagli) and by a series of works by Mino Maccari coming from the Tito Balestra Foundation from Longiano.
From an idea of the Provincial Committee for the Promotion of Contemporary Art, the exhibit - curated by Orlando Piraccini and already on display in Cesenatico Town Art Gallery - is organized in Bagno di Romagna by the Culture Councillor's Department, thanks to the help of Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and Soggetel. |
